This Privacy Policy explains what personal information ThoufAI.com (“the site”, “I”, “me”) collects, how I use it, who I share it with, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Who runs this site
ThoufAI.com is run by Thoufeeq, an individual based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I am the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact me at hello@thoufai.com.
2. Information I collect
Information you give me
- Emails you send me. If you write to me, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. I use them only to reply.
- Email list signup. If you use the signup form in the footer, I collect your email address and the time you joined. See section 7.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, standard technical information is sent to my servers and to the services listed below. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, language, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this may be collected using cookies and similar technologies. See the Cookie Policy.
3. How I use your information
- To run, secure and improve the site.
- To understand which posts are useful, using aggregated analytics once analytics is turned on.
- To show advertising and measure how it performs, once advertising is turned on.
- To track affiliate referrals, so I am paid when you buy through my links.
- To reply to your messages and to send the weekly email you asked for.
- To follow the law and protect my rights.
4. Google Analytics (planned)
The site does not use Google Analytics yet. I plan to add it in the future to measure how visitors use the site. I will update this policy before I turn it on. Once it is on, the following applies.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service from Google. It uses cookies to collect information such as your IP address, pages viewed and time on site. I use the reports to improve the content. I do not combine this data with information that identifies you personally.
You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about you by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by refusing analytics cookies. To learn how Google handles data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense (planned)
The site does not show ads yet. I plan to apply for Google AdSense in the future, once the site has more visitors. I will update this policy before any ads appear. Once ads are on, the following applies.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalised ads and non-essential cookies will be used only if you give consent through the cookie choice shown on the site, and you can change your choice at any time.
6. Affiliate links
Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you click one, the company you are sent to may set its own cookie to record that you came from this site. If you then buy, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those companies are separate controllers of your data, and their own privacy policies apply. See my Affiliate Disclosure.
7. Email list
You can join my email list with the form in the footer of the site. I use your email address only to send you the weekly ThoufAI note and related updates from ThoufAI. I will not sell your email address. Every email will tell you how to leave, and you can also write to hello@thoufai.com at any time and I will remove you. Your address is stored in a private Notion database that only I can open. I send the emails myself.
8. Fonts
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic browser information.
9. Who I share information with
I do not sell your personal information for money. I share information only with:
- Google, for fonts today, and for analytics and advertising once those are turned on.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run the site and my email, currently Railway and Hostinger.
- Notion, which stores your email address in a private database if you join the email list.
- Affiliate partners, when you click their links, as described in section 6.
- Authorities or advisers, when the law requires it or to protect my legal rights.
Under some laws, such as those of certain US states, the use of advertising cookies can count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”. Once advertising is on, you can opt out using the controls in section 5.
10. International transfers
My service providers, including Google, may process information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the provider’s certified data protection frameworks.
11. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
- Consent for advertising and analytics cookies once these are turned on, and for the email list. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and working.
- Legitimate interests or your request for replying to your emails.
12. How long I keep information
- Emails you send me: for as long as needed to deal with your request, then deleted or archived.
- Email list addresses: until you leave the list.
- Analytics data, once analytics is on: according to the retention period set in my Google Analytics account, which I keep as short as is useful.
- Cookies: for the periods in the Cookie Policy.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the EU and UK GDPR, and some US state laws, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information I hold about you and get a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- ask me to delete your information;
- object to or restrict how I use it;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what I did before;
- opt out of personalised advertising;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email hello@thoufai.com. I may need to confirm who you are first, and I will reply within a reasonable time and in any case within the period the law requires. I will not treat you differently for using your rights.
14. Children
The site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given me information, please write to me and I will delete it.
15. Security
The site uses HTTPS, and I choose reputable providers. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Links to other sites
The site links to other websites. I am not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies.
17. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If I make a significant change, such as turning on analytics or advertising, I will say so on the site.
