This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones ThoufAI.com and its partners use or may use, and how you can control them. It should be read with the Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let a site remember your device, measure visits, and show ads. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, work in a comparable way, and this policy covers them too.
2. Cookies on this site
Right now the site itself does not set cookies to log you in, because there are no accounts, and I do not yet use analytics or advertising cookies. The table below shows the cookies you can expect when I turn on those services in the future, and the cookies that affiliate partners may set when you click their links. I will update this policy before that happens. Names and lifetimes are set by the providers and can change.
| Purpose | Provider | Typical cookies | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics (planned) Counts visits and shows which posts are read. | Google Analytics | _ga, _ga_<container id> | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising (planned) Shows and measures ads, and may personalise them. | Google AdSense and Google advertising partners | __gads, __gpi, IDE, test_cookie | Up to about 13 months |
| Affiliate tracking Records that a purchase came from a link on this site. | The company you click through to | Set by that company | Varies by company |
| Cookie choice (planned) Remembers your consent decision, once a consent tool is shown. | This site or its consent provider | Consent record | Up to 12 months |
Google Fonts does not set cookies, but loading the fonts sends your IP address to Google. Cookies not listed here may appear if I add new tools, and I will update this page when that happens.
3. Types of cookies
- Strictly necessary: needed for the site to work, such as remembering your cookie choice. These do not need consent.
- Analytics: help me understand how the site is used.
- Advertising: help show and measure ads, and may build an interest profile.
- Affiliate: let partners credit me for referrals.
4. Your choices
- Cookie choice on the site. Once a consent tool is shown, for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, you can accept or refuse non-essential cookies and change your mind at any time.
- Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Instructions are on your browser’s help page. On iPhone, go to Settings, Apps, Safari, then choose Block All Cookies or Clear History and Website Data.
- Personalised ads. Use Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info to opt out. EEA and UK visitors can also use www.youronlinechoices.com.
- Google Analytics. Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Do Not Track and similar signals. Browsers handle these differently, so the site may not respond to them.
If you block cookies, the site will still work, but you may see less relevant ads once ads are on.
5. More about how Google uses data
See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and How Google uses cookies.
6. Changes
I may update this policy when the cookies or tools on the site change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
